Dental emergency Fredericton

The most commonly seen dental emergencies are:

  • Knocked out tooth
  • Toothache
  • Chipped or broken tooth
  • Possible broken jaw
  • Swollen or bleeding gums
  • Bitten tongue or lip
  • Lost or broken fillings

What can I do in case of a dental emergency?

Here are some of the guidelines we recommend for dental emergencies:

Toothache

Please see a dentist as soon as you feel any discomfort or pain.

Broken, chipped, or cracked tooth

Make sure to rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to your face as quickly as possible.

Loosened or knocked-out tooth

If your tooth becomes loose due to trauma, please call our office immediately. If you have a knocked out tooth, gently insert the lost tooth back in the socket if possible, holding the tooth by the crown using a clean washcloth. If the tooth is dirty, rinse the root first but do not scrub it or remove any attached tissues. If reinsertion isn’t possible, hold the tooth under your tongue and go see your dentist immediately.

Broken Jaw

You must apply ice or a cold compress on your face. Go see your dentist immediately or give us a call.

Bitten Tongue or Lip

You must clean the area with a wet cloth and place a cold compress on the area to reduce swelling. If the bleeding continues or is excessive, go to your dentist.
